AT HOME 11: BLESSINGS IN THE NIGHT

Use this guide to help your family worship and reflect through the week.
You may go through this in any order you wish.

1. BIG TRUTH  (2 MINUTES)

Reinforce this truth throughout the week and during your study. 

God reminds Jacob that he will keep his promise and that he will be with him.

2. READ  (15 MINUTES)

Read the passage to or with your children.

Genesis 28 & 32

3. MEMORY VERSE  (5 MINUTES)

Memorize and recite this verse with your children throughout the week.

Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.

Genesis 28:15

4. VIDEO  (5 MINUTES)

Watch with your children.

5. DISCUSSION  (10 MINUTES)

Take time with your family to discuss these questions (or variations of these questions)
together, and reflect on this week’s truth and Word. 

1. QUESTION: How do you think Jacob felt when he learned that Esau was trying to kill him? Do you think he wondered if God would still keep his promise? How did God reassure him? What do you remember about the dream God gave Jacob? What did Jacob learn about God?
TAKEAWAY: Jacob was blessed with the confidence that God was with him and would still keep his promise.

2. QUESTION: What did God promise Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob would happen to all the families of the earth? Did God keep that promise? How?
TAKEAWAY: Through Jesus, God fulfilled his promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and blessed all the families of the earth (including us!).

3. QUESTION: Who is called Savior and Immanuel (God with us)? How is the fact that Jesus saves a blessing to all people? How is the fact that Jesus is "God with us" a blessing to all people?
TAKEAWAY: God blesses all people through Jesus, who saves us from our sin and is Immanuel (God with us).

6. ACTIVITY (10 MINUTES)  [Toddlers to 6th Grade only]

Set aside time for your child(ren) to complete the activity sheet they received on Sunday.

7. PRAY

As your family reflects on the truths you learned in this week’s lesson, pray together.

Lord, do not leave us alone. We need your help.
We need a blessing. Help us to see that when we
are weak, then you are strong.
